Being a full-time travel photographer, Airbnb has been an essential component to my lifestyle.

My job requires me to travel near and far to complete various assignments for tourism boards, automotive companies, outdoor brands and more. I am also constantly going on trips that are my own passion projects so that I can explore this world we all live in and to push my photography to the next level. While on these assignments and adventures I always need somewhere to stay because, well… I am not just going to sleep on the street, on the side of a mountain, or in the woods.

Ok, I may have lied a little… On A LOT of these trips I am in fact sleeping on the sides of mountains and in woods BUT I always require a home base before and after these adventures into the wilderness. Airbnb is always my go to for these home-bases. Whether it’s a quick budget friendly option to just put a roof under my head to prepare for a 7 day backpacking through the Peruvian Andes, a series of funky cabins during a road trip through the Pacific Northwest, tree-houses tucked away in the woods 30 minutes from home, bungalows on the beach orrrrrr that time I used Airbnb to pay for my rent while being stranded on an island off the coast of the African continent called Mauritius for 6 months… This platform ALWAYS has my back. Airbnb truly allows me to live anywhere and is the glue to making a lot of my adventures possible.

Although I am constantly using Airbnb as my go to platform for booking accommodations on my adventures, I also use it to push my creativity and find unique places to take images of. Airbnb holds ENDLESS amounts of unique stays that aren’t only fantastic to spend the night in but make for EPIC content opportunities. I am always getting questions such as, “Where do you find all of these cozy cabins?” and the answer is always Airbnb.

I have stayed in stunning glass lodges in Iceland, beach bungalows on tropical islands, A-frames tucked in the woods, tree-houses that look like they are from a fairytale land and and soooo much more. I share images of these wildly unique stays on my Instagram account all the time and it always sparks an interest with my audience. People are constantly asking how I find these places and the answer is much simpler than some would think… I just scroll around on Airbnb and find them there!

One of my favourite things to do is to use the option called “Go Near.”  This finds all of the Airbnb locations close to me at the time. I sometimes use this from home and select the “unique stays” filter which comes up with a list of stays in funky little abodes such as cabins, tree-houses, barns, castles, domes, teepees, windmills, train coaches, yurts, and the list goes on…

So again, Airbnb is ESSENTIAL for my lifestyle and gives me the ability to truly live anywhere in the world, discover places to sleep that I used to only dream about, push my creativity in the photography world, and helps me explore the area close to home.
